About the Psychologists in Schools Association
Founded in 2005 with 33 initial members, PISA is a professional association of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union. The focus of PISA is the provision of professional development and dissemination of information relevant to Psychologists in schools. In the 2012/2013 school year, there were 147 members in this association.
Executive members are all involved in selecting the October Conference topic and presenter and organizing the conference. Nominations for positions are solicited each year during the Annual General Meeting held at the PISA October Conference.
President: Dan Stephenson
Past President: Beth MacInnis
Vice President: Kelly Humphries
Treasurer: Matthew MacLeod
Secretary: Crystal Sampson

Past President Matthew MacLeod said, "As PISA President, the main duties include organizing and leading the professional association executive and conference meetings (e.g., developing agendas, meeting chair). The President is also the spokesperson for the association and is responsible for coordinating the Annual General Meeting. Good public speaking skills and organizational skills are assets to the position. In addition, being on the PISA executive contributes credits as part of NSBEP’s Continuing Competency Program."
Past Vice President Ashley Monk said, "When volunteering to take on the PISA Vice-President and Conference Chair position I thought 'what have I gotten myself into now!' Planning the October conference is not as difficult as it seems (it was actually enjoyable). I believe that PD is a vital component in staying current as a School Psychologist. This position has allowed me to learn and converse with some great minds! The conference planning does take time, commitment, and organization but you are not alone. The entire executive is there helping you through every step. I look forward to seeing you all Oct.25."
